He occupied the Overhouse site for half a century from 1819, completely
rebuilding the factory in 1869. His inspiration is behind an eclectic
range of exquisite coasters and beautiful hand drawn plates.

From the above statement English Eccentrix was conceived. We recognised that there was a wealth of talent in design who for various reasons were unable to fulfil their ambitions of seeing their ideas developed.
Royal Stafford has long been associated with some of the most iconic design houses ‘Conran Shop’, ‘Anthropologie’, ‘Liberty’, ‘Heals’ to name but a few. This experience was invaluable in establishing English Eccentrix, to nurture, support and bring to the market products for a new generation of designers.
Royal Stafford are one of the few remaining factories producing traditional high fired English earthenware, which draws its warmth and charm from the natural clays which are still mined in the South of England. It was ideally placed to develop through modern technology this historically noble material to become a robust and durable friend to a new audience.
